In The Beginning

On the morning of December 17, 2008, Missionary Medical Employees were getting ready for their Division Meeting. On the agenda was a white elephant gift exchange, a first at Missionary Medical. We all sat in a big square and played a fun game where you pass your gift to the right or to the left depending on what was read in a little story about the Right Family. People got a variety of things from a brand new knife set to an old plastic plant (which used to belong to Mary Solt, now retired). However, the gift that made everyone laugh was the Armadillo purse that I opened up.

We all laughed and laughed about the Armadillo, and then went on with our daily work. We kept talking about how the Armadillo Purse was the perfect white elephant gift, and began throwing around ideas of what I would do with it. Then in a stroke of genius thought, I thought that it would be fun to have it be a traveling armadillo. Any Missionary Medical employee that was going on a trip or vacation would take Army Armadillo along with them, and take pictures of him in front of famous landmarks. Everyone seemed to like this idea, and so Army the Traveling Armadillo was created.

Army's first adventure needed to be something exciting enough to get this idea off the ground. We have two associates leaving for the holidays, and so we took a look at the two of them. Julie was going to go home to Philadelphia, and Stephanie was going to go to Boise. Of the two we thought that Philly won out. So Julie will be the first to take Army out on an Adventure.

Also along with taking Army out on her trip comes the responsibility of getting pictures of Army in front of famous landmarks, and also placing a souvenir inside of him. This souvenir is for the next traveler to keep, and then replace (it's our version on a mobile geo-cache).

So keep your eyes open, follow the blog, and be sure to let us know if you would like to take Army on another great adventure.
